What a night! This is the 2nd time we've done this. Tonight was the Holiday in the Park parade in League City, TX. I am the music guy at our Good News Club at Ferguson Elem., which is a Bible Club that teaches the Gospel to kids in the public schools. We entered the parade. It wasn't a giant parade, but there were at least 5000 people there. The theme of our float was "Follow the Star." We had a trailer with about 30 young kids on it, then we had another 20 plus parents walking behind the trailer. We had a banner that said "Good News Club" that followed.
We also set up speakers at the front of the float facing both sides of the road. I sat in the back of the pickup, with the generator, sound board, and my brother, Carlos, running the board. I had a microphone, and as we went a long, we would play Christmas music. Every now and then, the truck would pause, and I would interrupt the music and say something like, "Merry Christmas! There are many Good News Clubs in the Clear Creak Independent School District that teach the Gospel, the Good News, of Jesus Christ. The bad news is that all have sinned, in other words, broken God's laws. Things like lying, stealing, and taking God's name in vain. The consequences of those things are an eternity in Hell, but that's the bad news. The Good News is 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.' That is really Good News. Merry Christmas!"
At that point, the music interrupts me, and the kids sing,
"Good News, Good news,
Christ died for me
Good News, Good News If I believe
Good News, Good News, I'm saved eternally
That's wonderful EXTRA good News!
Good News, Good News Christ lives for me
Good News, Good News Christ prays for me
His Word says that, He'll come again for me
That's wonderful EXTRA good news
While we are doing that, all the parents and kids that are walking behind the float scatter to the sidewalks to hand people gospel tracts. They passed out 2000 gospel tracts with candy canes attached. Hopefully next year, we'll have more.
God did open up a door to talk with David, someone handing out karate tracts :), before we started. He heard the law and the Gospel pretty clearly, and though he thought he was a good person, he still admitted to his guilt and his mouth was stopped. Lord, please help him to read his million dollar gospel tract.
The Lamb is worthy!

All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flowers fall away, but the word of the LORD endures forever.
